I'm looking for meaning
in an invisible web.
I'm trying to suss out,
make sense, as if all is
metaphor.
Maybe, maybe not.
The moving leaf

some stray wind,
reminding me of my hope

Phyllomancy is the divintion of omens from leaves. Sometimes it is accomplished by the sound made as they rustle in the wind, by observing how they burn, or the way they float. The significance of falling autumn leaves is judged by the number, the manner of falling, or whether they land face up or face down. Dreaming of falling leaves, however, is a bad omen, signifying trouble or bad news. If an ivy leaf is placed in water on New Year's Eve and remains fresh on Twelfth Night, the following year will be good, but if it has spots there will be illness; if the leaf is covered in dark spots there will be death. (Divination with tea leaves or coffee grounds is called tasseomancy.)
